Becca Zero No Pigmentation Collection Review

Hello and welcome to my first post in a LONGGGGGG time!

Here I am, once again, trying to revamp my blog and be more regular about posting.
The easiest things to post about at the moment are , of course, reviews!!

With the whole ~World Pandemic~ still in full swing, I've picked up a couple of new hobbies but also wanted to get back into blogging as a way to pass the time.
I've been very fortunate that I've still been able to enjoy my beauty subscription boxes so I'll be doing break downs of those as well as reviews for any products that come my way.

This particular duo came from Influenster. I've been a member on the app for quite some time now but have only put in the effort for keeping up with it in the past couple of years.

I HIGHLY recommend signing up for the FREE app and doing reviews because you can be eligible tor receive some amazing products. (I received a FREE Pat McGrath palette and all I had to do in return was write an honest review.)

Most recently, Influenster sent me these two products from Becca's new Zero line to try out and review.
Becca Zero No Pigment Virtual Foundation and Becca ZeroNo Pigment Glass Highlighter. If you're interested in hearing (reading) my honest opinions about these products, click "read more" to jump!

First we'll start off with the Becca Zero No pigment Virtual Foundation.

I'll admit, my first thought when I found out I would be receiving it was "Haha...what? That's a joke."

The thought of a ZERO pigment foundation didn't seem to make sense to me and them adding on the word "virtual" just made me laugh.

Now, before we jump into the review of the product, let's go over some basics.
This foundation retails for $36 (USD) and comes with 1.0 oz of product.

It's most notable ingredient is Hyaluronic acid but the entire list of ingredients is as follows:
(basically a lot of stabilizers, oil, preservatives and acids)

Now that we've gone over basics, onward to...the rest of it!

Now, you may be wondering what this products actual intended results are.

These are screen grabs directly from Becca's website.

And here are before-and-afters also taken from their website.

After reading what the intention of the product was for, I immediately thought "so...a primer?"

What does this Virtual foundation have in common with a mattifying primer?

Smooth/blur pores ✔
Leaves a matte finish ✔

That's...kind of it but that's also the bulk of what mattifying primers do (minus the whole "keeping your foundation in place longer" bit.)

My initial reactions and thoughts were somewhat justified (to myself) once I opened the jar as well.

This product SOUNDS like primer and LOOKS like primer. It looks like a smooth, matte, (silicone looking) gel almost reminiscent of smash box's famous photo ready primer. Or the good ol Monistat chaffing gel dupe (lol) You get my drift.

It looks like it but instead of a squeeze tube, it's nicely packaged in a squat, matte, glass tub.

(Just want to reiterate that this LOOKS like a silicone primer but it is SILICONE free)

Here's a little bit of it swatched into my hand. Looks very smoothing!

A little bit closer~

The texture when applied starts off very silky feeling but the more you rub it in, the consistency changes into a slightly more "liquid" feel and it also feels very cooling on the skin.

After applying it to one side of my face, I can definitely says that it feels very refreshing on the skin...but I honestly didn't see or feel any other notable differences.
My pores didn't look any smaller or "blurred" and there wasn't a difference as far as my skin being softer or more moisturized.
I also have birthmarks and rosacea on my face and neither looked as muted or softened as the examples' freckles or dark spots.

Perhaps this product would have better visible results on someone with oily skin since one of the main selling points is being an all day oil controller?

Becca was intending for this product to be used as a break from full coverage foundations while still have skin perfecting properties but I think they missed the mark. In my personal opinion, if you're going to be applying makeup anyways, you'd be better off going for a tinted moisturizer or a light bb cream. They will (depending on the one used) give the same intended results if not better.

Overall, I'd give this a a whopping and disappointing....

Next up is Becca Zero No Pigment Glass Highlighter~

This is advertised as a glass skin highlighter with a duo use as a lip gloss~

It retails for $24 and comes with 6.5ml of product~
(Silicone oils and preservatives/binders)

Once again, excerpts taken directly from the Becca website to describe the product and it's intended uses as well as before and afters.

I know that the glossy/glass skin look is very "on trend" right now in western beauty (shout out to k beauty starting trends)  but I do think it's interesting that 1/2 of this collection is focusing on a soft matte finish and the other is going for the glossy finish.

As far as the highlighter part goes, I do think this blends well on bare skin as well as on top of the virtual foundation of the same line.

However, I would NOT recommend it on another foundation. This highlighter is oil based and will then break down or "move" the foundation on your face.
It also does have a tacky feel on the skin and can feel very heavy.

Once blended, it'll give a nice DEFINITELY visible sheen.

It's GREAT as a lipgloss though! On the lips it feels like a lip oil with a lot of slip and minimal tack.

I think one of the target points for this product was to be a highlighter with no "shimmer" but there's still better ways to get that glow or highlight.

Overall, I'd give this product a 3/5. If I think of it as just a lipgloss, it works and comes in a clean and minimalistic container which is aesthetically pleasing. The price is a little hefty for what it is and I just don't see the appeal as a highlighter.

Welp, that's it! I'm still getting back into the swing of things and finding my writing style.
Thanks for reading and be sure to follow for more updates!
